by feeling this. Two spokes on opposite sides of the wheel
should be grasped firmly between the thumb and first two
fingers of the right hand. The great thing to obtain is an
equal tension on every spoke, otherwise the wheel will
soon go out of truth when used.
Before putting the wheels aside as finished, see if any
of the spoke ends protrude through the nipples ; if so, file
them off flush. Before proceeding to put the wheels to-
gether look at the drilling of the rims, and see that the
holes on the proper side of the rim are used. The holes
are not all drilled alike, but are drilled at a correspond-
ing angle to that of the spokes. It should also be
