■ Practically in addition to all the bacon produced, most of the heads and
feet of pigs are sent to the United Kingdom, the bulk of the offal being
sent to Germany. Hams, salted pork in barrels, and fresh (not salted) pork
are sent to various other countries. Almost all the intestines (value in
1913 about £ 200.000) are sent to Germany for the German sausage
industry.
Considerable quantities of lard are also exported; in 1913 4.320 tons
of the value of £ 233.700. This export takes place principally to Germany
and Great Britain.
According to the Act of May 27, 1908 the Lur Brand (see also
Butter, page 13) is made an obligatory trade mark for Danish bacon
produced from pigs of Class IA, i. e. pigs which have been found per-
fectly free from disease of any kind. Only Lur. branded bacon can be
exported from Denmark to the United Kingdom.
The following is the design of the Lur Brand for bacon, it being
stamped in red.
