good deal inferior to those strains, which were judged first class during
the periods from 1910 to 1919, and in consequence thereof rootseeds of
strains bearing the Roman numerals: I, II and III are seldom ottered
for sale now-a-days, as these strains have been surpassed by the strains
bearing the Roman numerals: IV and V. During coming years the same
phenomenon will gradually appear as new strains are selected during
the experimental period from 1920 to 1929. These strains will be mar-
ked with the Roman numerals: VI and VII, and as, in all probability,
they will be superior in yield to the strains of the present day, it will,
accordingly, only be a question of time when the strains bearing the Roman
numerals: IV and V will have disappeared also.
During 1916 the total export of seed amounted to 9 million Kroner
(At the same time a quantity estimated at abt. 1 million Kr. passed
through the country in transit). Danish seed is exported to the whole
of Europe, especially to Germany, England, Sweden and Russia. Con-
siderable quantities are also sold to the United States. Of late years a
quantity of ordinary cocks foot grass has been exported to Australia.
The interests of Danish agricultural exportation in England are
looked after by the Danish Government Adviser Mr. Harald Faber, 7—8
Idol Lane, London E. C., in Russia by Mr. N. Otto Nielsen, in N. Amerika
Mr. S. Sørensen, in Germany Mr. A. P. Jacobsen.
