192 F Russia. yellow on plan. Foreign Countries. RUSSIA. INDUSTRIAL HALL—SOUTH-EAST COURTS—AND IN THE GROUNDS. The Imperial Government of Russia has spent a considerable sum of money with a view to making the Russian Exhibit worthy of the Empire. It will be found to be a thoroughly characteristic one, and such as to give visitors a better estimate of the vast resources of the country than is to be had from even the best of the many recent publications, magazine articles, etc., on the subject. Of late years, great importance has been attached to the development of the industrial resources of this, comparatively, sealed up European State. Much British Capital has been attracted thither; and Glasgow Engineers, Shipbuilders, etc., have had a big proportion of the orders for machinery, or other implements, resulting from this commercial awakening of the Slavonic race. The pavilions are in themselves delightful examples of Russian carpentry and design ; within are a typical display of agricultural products, minerals, chemicals, and craftsmanship. Details of these exhibits and their location follow Agricultural Section.
