Tyre Cover Repairing
Covers are of two main kinds—those with wired edges
(Fig. 26), and those with beaded edges (Fig. 27). The
length of the wire is such that the tyre is held in place
within the sides' of the rim, whilst the cover can, when

required, be removed without much trouble. In the
case of the beaded edge tyre the cover is, in a sense, dove-
tailed to the rim by the internal pressure of air bearing
on the heel of a wedge-shaped endless band, as shown
in Fig. 27. Figs. 28 to 32 show a few of the most popular
tyres, there being beneath each illustration an explanatory
inscription.
