any repairs. Railroad tracks on wharves. A salvage steamer »Svitzer«
is stationed at the port.
Helsingør (Elsinore).
Helsingør (Elsinore), is situated on the Danish side of the Northern
entrance to the Sound, in Lat. 56° 2' N., Long. 12° 37' E., and is about
22 English miles from Copenhagen. There are 25 feet of water in the har-
bour and at most of the wharves. Pilots should be obtained at »Lappe
Grund« lightship. The wharves are 6 to 7 feet above sea level, and have
railroad tracks. At this port repairs can be effected to all kinds of vessels
and engines. There are several dry docks. The largest has keel blocks
for a length of 370 feet and 18 feet of water at the entrance. The cranes
at the shipyard can lift 80 and 45 tons. Coal, provisions and water are
plentiful. Time signal at Greenwich mean noon for correction of chrono-
meters, and facilities for regulating compasses. Storm signal displayed.

Horsens.
Horsens is situated in Lat. 55° 52' N., Long. 9° 52' E. at the head
of the bay of the same name on the East coast of Jutland. The depth of the
harbour is 21 feet, and the dredged channel leading to the harbour is 4 English
miles long, 100 feet wide and has also 21 feet of water. Compulsory pilotage
in the dredged channel. The services of a tugboat can be obtained. The
wharves are 4 to 5 feet above water, and are provided with railroad tracks.
There is a 5 ton crane, and also machine shops for small repairs. Coal, water
