After the Elliott & Hatch machine had continued in use
for some time, 3. new machine, called. tli6 Fisher was sub-
mitted. This machine as will be seen by the illustration,
resembled a. Bar-Lock turned upside down, with the key-
board put on top. This, also, worked by means of a. shift
key and ribbon, but owing to the open front, the writing
was at all times visible. 1 he power of this machine was
very greatly in excess of that previously mentioned and
the result was that the two companies soon joined forces,
and became known as the Elliott-Fisher Company.
