Davey, Paxman & Co., Ltd., Engineers, Colchester.—One 650 Brake Horse Power
Compound Coupled Horizontal Engine specially designed for Electric Lighting
and Traction work. The Engine is of the most modern design, constructed for
being driven by Superheated Steam, is fitted with Paxman’s Automatic Expansion
Gear, and a Special Speed Adjusting Gear, and an arrangement for
Forced Lubrication is provided. The Electric Generator is made by The Electric
Construction Company, Limited, of Wolverhampton, and is compound wound for
550 Volts 300 kilowatts.

diameter, constructed for a working pressure of 160 lbs. per square inch. The
Superheater as at present arranged is suitable for adding 300 degrees Fahr, to
8000 lbs. of steam per hour at a pressure of 160 lbs. per square inch.
