Government for the armament of cruisers of recent
construction. They contain ail the improvements earried
out for the Schneider-Canet quick-firing naval guns, and
allow of extra rapid action. The varions manœuvres and
the firing are eftected by a single gunner, who bas
within easy reach ail the varions parts of the mechanism.

The line of sight is lighted by electricity for night service,
and the fuse can be fired either by percussion or by
electricity. The guns were built according to a spéci-
fication which provided that they had to tire a projectile
isolated from the cartridge-case, in order to facilitate
loading and handling in the magazines.
