Article XXVI.
This convention when signed by the Plenipotentiaries of the
Contracting Parties shall be ratified by the respective Govern-
ments and the ratifications shall be exchanged at Washington at
the earliest date possible.
In faith whereof the respective Plenipotentiaries have signed
the present convention in duplicate and have hereunto affixed their
respective seals.
Done at the City of Washington the 18th day of November
in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and three.

CONSTANTINOPEL OVERENSKOMSTEN AF 29. OCTOBER, 1888,
VEDRØRENDE DEN FRI BESEILING AF SUEZ-CANALEN.
Article I.
The Suez Maritime Canal shall always be free and open, in
time of war as in time of peace, to every vessel of commerce or
of war, without distinction of flag.
Consequently, the high contracting parties agree not in any
way to interfere with the free use of the canal, in time of war
as in time of peace.
The canal shall never be subjected to the exercise of the right
of blockade.
