Flat lands near Mount Hope, with some small knolls, or rounded hills, rising 10 to 50 feet above the general low flat surface of the plain. This group of small knolls
has been called the Monkey Hills. The hills are remnants of a higher land surface; the interhill areas having been washed away by stream erosion when the
isthmian land stood some hundreds of feet higher than now. a, A knoll rising about 30 feet above the surrounding plain.
