G-eneral Conditions for Work and deliveries for the Harbour of Reykjavik. 4 1. Extent of work contracted for. All work and deliveries shall be in accordance with the general and special conditions, drawings and descriptions produced. All ordinary work required for the total execution of the contract, whether specially mentioned or not, as for instance the clearing of the premises, shall be executed by the Contractor. The Contractor shall furnish all the materials and do all minor work, if not expressly excepted in the Conditions. The Board of Work shall not be responsible for the correctness of any calculations, plans, level- ling &c. produced for the information of the persons wishing to tender, but the Contractor may claim a compensation if he can prove within two months of the date of the contract that there are any actual mistakes in the measures or calculations. The Board of Work shall, however, not be responsible for the correctness of any statement founded on estimate only. 4 2. Measures and Weights. It not otherwise expressly stated, all measures and weights are metric. 4 3. Quality and Test of Work contracted for. All work and deliveries shall be handsomely and substantially executed and in every respect satis- factorily and, provided their quality be not expressly stipulated in the special conditions, of good mer- chantable materials. If required, the Contractor shall prove the origin of the materials by certificates or in some other manner. The Board of Work and their employees shall have free access to any building place or work- shop and shall receive any information necessary for the proper judgement of the work. The Board of Work, or a Control appointed by them for the purpose, shall decide as to the quality of the work. Any work or part of work which is not according to the contract, shall at once be renewed and replaced by other work of the quality contracted for, and all condemned materials shall at once be removed from the building place. The Contractor shall comply with all instructions given him by the Board of Work or the Con- trol with a view to a good and satisfactory execution of the work. The Contractor shall provide specimens of materials if required, and shall supply a sufficient number of men for taking out and examining such specimens. If the materials are tested at any public laboratory, the Board of Work shall pay for the first tests. If these are unsatisfactory, all subsequent tests shall be paid by the Contractor. § 4. Setting-out. All main-lines and heights shall be set out by the Board of Work, and all other setting-out shall be done by the Contractor on his own responsibility. § 5. Differences &c. All obscurities or differences in documents, such as drawings and descriptions, which may render the execution of any construction liable to mistakes, shall be settled by the Board of Work, which gives its decision in writing, and to whom the Contractor shall apply for the purpose.
