Best Is the Cheapest.
The old saying, “The best is the cheapest, irrespective of cost,” is
true of air compressors, as well as any other article.
It is a fundamental fact in business, and especially in the air com-
pressor business, that a high-grade machine, the best in its line, does
and always will command a higher price. The difference in price
between the best compressor and one not so good, divided by the

number of days in the ten or fifteen years of use, amounts to but a
few cents a day, and this may be regarded as cheap insurance against
breakdowns, incidental delays, or fires.
The high reputation which Ingersoll-Sergeant compressors enjoy
is the result of maintaining their position in the forefront through con-
tinued improvement in material and methods of construction.
This admits of only the best grades of meta] in every detail and
workmanship of the most exact and reliable character. The metals
which are used in their construction are 25 per cent, better than are
called for in the United States Government specifications.
A variety of types to meet different conditions are manufactured
by this company. Some of the compressors most suited for air lift
work are illustrated on pages 60 to 70. Full information as to sizes,
dimensions and capacities is contained in the Compressor Catalog
which will be sent on request.
