» «Millian Unå IN OXYDIZED SILVER. ANUFACTURED to commemorate special in- cidents of the Abyssinian Campaign and for présen- tation to the ist Battalion, 4th King’s Own Royal Regiment, the Officers of which have kindly per- mitted its exhibition by Elkington & Co. The composition is pyramidal in form, the pedestal serving to frame bas- reliefs representing the advance in the mountains of the 4th Regiment, and the final conquest of Magdala. On each side of the pedestal the British Lion is shown crushing beneath his paws the broken shackles of the captives, the whole being surmounted by a finely- modelled group representing the Angel of Victory standing over the dead body of King Theodore, whose Son is imploring future guidance and pro- tection In O xidirtem sr1ber. Angesertigt zur Erinnerung einzelner Episoden im abyssinischen Feldzuge zum Geschenke an das 1. Bataillon des 4. königl. Leibregiments ; tessrn Officier- in dir Ausstellung derselben, durch Elkington & Co., freundlichst einwilligten. Composition ist pyramidenförmig, deren Piedestal gleichzeitig die Basreliefs einfaßt, welche den Vormarsch des 4. Regiments in die Gebirge und die schließliche Eroberung Magdala's dar- stellen. An jeder Seite desselben sieht man den britischen Löwen, der unter seinen Klauen die zersprengten Fesseln der Gefangenen zer- malmt. Das Ganze ist von einer prachtvoll modellirten Gruppe überragt, den Siegesengel darstellend, der auf dem Leichnam des Königs Theodorus steht, dessen Sohn, um künftige Führung und Schutz flehend, zum Sieger emporblickt.
