G = |th girt of tree at middle in feet.
g — J th girt of tree at one end in feet.
g' = |th girt of tree at the other end in feet.
L = Length-of log in feet.
c == Cube contents of log in feet.
Allowance is to be made for bark by deducting
from each. |th girt. The allowance varies from
half an inch in trees with thin bark to 2 inches
for trees with thick bark.
Measures of Timber.
100 superficial feet of planking .. = 1 square.
120 deals .. .................=1 hundred
50 cube feet of squared timber ,. = 1 load.
40 feet of unhewn timber ,, .. = 1 load.
600 superficial ft. of inch planking = 1 load.
Boards 7 inches wide .............= battens.
