The House was founded by the goldsmith the late Mr. Anton Michelsen who took out, on the 24 July 1841, a licence as goldsmith in Copenhagen; and through his skill and diligence he worked up his business in such a way as to be appointed jeweller to H. M. the King and to the Royal Chapter of Danish orders in 1848. He participated, in a prominent manner, in a great many expositions of which we may name a large Danish Industrial Exposi- tion at Copenhagen 1852, the International Ex- position in Paris 1855, and the Northern Exposi- tion at Copenhagen 1872. At his death, in 1877, the business passed to his son Mr. C. Michelsen who was appointed, as his father had been before him, jeweller to
