nected with H. I. M. the Emperor of Russia,
H. M. the King of Greece, H. R. H. the
Prince of Wales, and H. R. H. the Duke
of Cumberland. The House was founded by
the goldsmith the late Mr. Anton Michelsen
who took out, on the 24 July 1841, a licence
as goldsmith in Copenhagen; and through his
skill and diligence he worked up his business
in such a way as to be appointed jeweller to H.
M. the King and to the Royal Chapter of Danish
orders in 1848. He participated, in a prominent
manner, in a great many expositions of which
we may name a large Danish Industrial Exposi-
tion at Copenhagen 1852, the International Ex-
position in Paris 1855, and the Northern Exposi-
tion at Copenhagen 1872.
At his death, in 1877, the business passed
to his son Mr. C. Michelsen who was appointed,
as his father had been before him, jeweller to
