grab from the trench direct on to the tenders of engines.
A similar installation of the same railway company is at Albany Station. It might
be mentioned that very similar installations could be erected square instead of round,
which appears to be more economical as regards space.
Gravity Bucket Conveyor as used in Connection with a Chalk-
handling Plant.—This installation, illustrated in Figs. 922 and 923, is used for
conveying broken chalk for cement manufacture. The material is delivered alongside
in barge loads, and is discharged by means of two steam cranes and grabs into a double
