After being screwed tot he hu o the enemy’s vessel, the torpedo was then to be released from the submarine and fired by a time clock device which was set in motion by the withdrawing of a pin when releasee. In 1775 Bushnell was called upon to take his submarine and make an attack upon the British vessels lying in New York harbor.
