so many prizes at various expositions that its
origin and further history have become a matter
of common interest.
It was founded, in 1846, by its present pro-
prietor Mr. V. Christesen, in a small town in Sea-
land. The workshop was small, and Mr. Christesen
worked by himself without any assistance. But
his skilled workmanship and great taste made
themselves quickly felt, and the sphere of his
