Band Conveyors for Larger Individual Loads.—Cotton band conveyors, if
the loaded strand is supported at frequent intervals, are also suitable for carrying sacks,
pieces of cloth, and light packages, if free from nails, hoop iron, and sharp projections
liable to cut the band. They are comparatively cheap in initial cost, easy to drive, and

quiet in operation; the last feature being sometimes of special importance. Band
conveyors, however, are not so suitable or so durable as chain and slat conveyors for
heavy packing cases.
