i58 THE MECHANICAL HANDLING OF MATERIAL Coke-Breaking and Sorting Plant.—Fig. 213 shows on a large scale a coke- breaking and sorting plant by the Berlin Anhaitische Maschinenbau Aktien-Gesellschaft. The illustration almost explains itself. The coke is brought to the elevator by narrow gauge trucks, is taken up and passed through the coke-breaker into a reciprocating conveyor, which is fitted with perforated plates, and classifies the coke into four sizes.
