grabs. Fig. 881 shows an installation of the former kind employed at the shunting station
of McKees Rock of the Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railway at Pittsburg, showing four lines,
so that eight locomotives can clear their refuse at the same time. The diagram explains
itself and shows how the receptacles are raised and tipped into an overhead ash and
clinker receptacle from which they may be withdrawn into railway trucks. The instal-
lation is electrically driven and similar ones have been erected with extensions at both
sides of the overhead ash silo.
