BOILER-HOUSE INSTALLATIONS
Coal-handling Plant at the Juniata Works, Altona, Pittsburg.1—This
is illustrated in Figs. 883 and 884, and is probably one of the earliest installations of its
■class, the worm conveyor, which is now almost obsolete for such purposes, being here
used for taking the coal from the railway trucks to the boiler-house.
This plant is designed to feed six boilers of 150 H.P. each, simultaneously clearing
away the ashes. It absorbs 25 H.P., and since its erection only two men have been
