DAS KLOSTER IN CIRKVENICE. — Kaum 2 Stunden von Fiume entfernt, im geschütztesten Winkel des blauen Quarnero liegt das reizende Meerbad Cirkvenice. Am Meeresufer steht das auf unserem Bilde ersichtliche, im Jahre 1412 erbaute Paul aner-Kloster, welches unter Kaiser Josef II. in den Besitz des Aerars, dann der Gemeinde überging. Von Letzterer erwarb es käuflich Se. k. und k. Hoheit Erz- herzog Josef, welcher das Kloster renoviren und als Absteigequartier für heilbe- dürftige Honved-Offiziere einrichten liess. Die Ortschaft selbst mit ihren 2—3 Stock höhen, netten und reinlichen Wohnhäusern, mit dem schönen Molo und den diversen Barken u. Seglern im geschützten Hafen bietet ein höchst liebliches Küstenbild. '-^rø^ L’ANCIEN CLOITRE DE CIRKVENICE. — A environ deux heures de Fiume, dans dans une anse abritée du Quarnero, se trouve la jolie petite localité de Cirkvenice qui depuis quelques années est devenue une notable station balnéaire de l’Adriatique. 1 Sur le rivage de la mer s’élève l’ancien cloître de l’ordre St. Paul que le Ban Nicolas Frangepan fît construire en 1412 ; après la dissolution de cet ordre par l’Empèreur Joseph IL; le cloître de Cirkvenice représenté par notre illustration devint successivement la propriété de l’Etat et de la commune. Il appartient main- tenant à son Altesse l’archiduc Joseph qui l’a fait restaurer et aménager pour servir de villégiature pendant la saison balnéaire aux officiers de honvéds convalescents. THE MONASTERY OF CIRKVENICZA. — We represent here the ancient Paulistan monastery of Cirkvenicza, with.its charming environs, situated a few miles from the town of Fiume, on the most sheltered part of the Quarnero. Built,in 1412 by Nicolas Frangipani for the Paulistans and secularized by Joseph II. it passed to the Treasury and afterward to the local authorities. At present Cirkvenicza is a sea-, bath. Archiduke Joseph bought the monastery and had it adapted as residence for officers of the Honvéd army, sojourning there for the benefit of their health. Cirkve- nicza itself, with its clean houses. 2 to 3 stories high stands on the sea-shore, and with its landing - molo and the sails in the harbour, forms a very delightful picture.
