DIE TISZA-(THEISS-) BRÜCKE IN SZEGED. — Der Stolz des neuen Szeged ist die wundervolle neue Brücke, das prunkvollste Geschenk, welches der fürsorgliche Staat der in den Fluthen der Tisza untergangenen Stadt zu Zeiten deren Reconstruction machte. Auf dem internationalen Concurs gewann den ersten Preis der auf Grund der Skizzen des Budapester Ingenieurs J. Feketehåzy ausgearbeitete geniale Plan des berühmten Pariser Technikers G. Eiffel, welchem auch der Bau anvertraut wurde. Die unter Leitung des inzwischen verstorbenen bekannten Ingenieurs Ign. Aug. Pivånyi mit einem Kostenaufwande von I3/« Millionen Gulden ausgeführten, durch die Launen der Tisza oft gestörten Bauarbeiten dauerten vom Dezember 1880 bis zum Herbste 1883. f^ LE PONT SUR LA TISZA A SZEGED. — La ville de Szeged est redevable de ce remarquable ouvrage d'art qui passe pour un chef-d’oeuvre de l’art technique à la munificence de l’Etat qui ne marchanda pas son concours lors de la reconstruction de la ville de Szeged détruite par l’inondation de 1879. A la suite d’un concours ouvert sur base d’un avant-projet de l’ingénieur J. Feketehåzy de Budapest, le projet de l’ingénieur G. Eiffel à Paris remporta le premier prix, et ce dernier fut chargé de la construction du pont. Les travaux d’établissement du pont qui ont duré de décembre 1880 à fin 1883, ont été exécutés sous l’émminente direction de l'ingénieur feu Mr. Auguste Pivånyi et ont occasioné une dépense de 1.750,000 florins. THE BRIDGE OVER THE THEISS AT SZEGEDIN. — This remarkable and ele- gantly constructed bridge is the work of Mr. G. Eiffel the French engineer; it is 401 mtrs. Ions and has 4 openings. The town owes this magnificent bridge, which excites the admiration of all professional men, to the munificence of the Government. At the international competition for plans, Mr. Eiffel gained the first prize with his genial design based on the sketches made by Mr. J. Feketehåzy engineer at Budapest. Mr. Eiffel also carried out the work, under the superintendance of the late Mr. Ig. August Pivånyi, a notable engineer. In spite of great difficulties that had to be overcome it was successfully constructed, between 1880 and 1883, at a cost of I3/« millions of florins.
