UMGEBUNG VON AGRAM UND MAXIMIR. Die Metropole Kroatiens ist von der Natur mit einer reizenden Umgebung be- dacht worden. In nächster Nähe der Stadt befinden sich schattige Alleen, ro- mantische Thäler und em- porragende Hügel, von welchen aus sich ein herr- liches Panorama darbietet. Ein beliebter Erholungs- ort ist die Au Tuèkanec, zu welcher der Zugang aus der Fleischhauergasse, an dem Parke des Gross- industriellen Gustav Ritter von Pongratz (siehe Bild) vorbeiführt. — In nächster Nähe von Agram dehnt sich auf Wiesenflächen und be- waldetem Hügelland der grossartige, an herrlichen Partien überaus reiche, erz- bischöfliche Park Maximir. In einem Sommergarten wird die Horticultur ge- pflegt; eine gothische Ka- pelle und sonstige Bauten erhöhen den Reiz des sehenswürdigen Parkes, darunter der Aussichts- kiosk oberhalb des grossen Parkteiches, wie dies un- ser nebenstehendes Bild zeigt. ENVIRONS DE ZAGRÅB (AGRAM) ET MAXIMIR. La Nature a richement doté les environs de la métropole croate. A pro- ximité même de la ville, on trouve de belles allées ombragées, des vallons ro- mantiques et des coteaux boisés, du sommet des- quels on jouit d’un coup d’oeil admirable sur les alentours. Une des prome- nades les plus fréquentées est le parc de Tuskanec, auquel on arrive par la rue des bouchers, en passant devant le parc du grand industriel, le chevalier Gus- tave de Pongrac. Ce parc qui est très bien entretenu constitue, ainsi que le montre notre illustration, une des parties les plus belles du panorama de Zagråb. Une autre prome- nade, très recherchée par le public de Zagrab et par les étrangers, c’est le parc dit «Maximir» très près aussi de la ville. Ce magni- fique parc créé par l’évêque Maxime Vrhovac et embelli ultérieurement par le cardi- nal Haulik comprend un grand nombre de belles promenades. THE ENVIRONS OF AGRAM AND MAXIMIR. — The Capital of Croatia was blessed by nature with delightful surroun- dings. Shady groves, and verdant hills from whence a splendid view is obtained, are close by. The favorite promenade is the park of Tuskanecz, beyond that of Chevalier de Pongratz. The weil kept park with the Mansion on the top of the hill forms a charming part of Agram’s panorama. Near the town on undulated mea- dows and wooded hills is the large archiepiscopal park of Maximir, rich in charming sceneries. Crea- ted by Bishop Maximilian Vrtovacz it was conside- rably ameliorated by Car- dinal G. Haulik. There are gloriettes, swiss cottages a gothic chapel and many other buildings in it, such as the Belvedere above the large park-lake, enhanc- ing the natural beauty of the park. In a summer garden Horticulture is cu'- tivated. The view of the park, as represented by our illustration is really de- lightful.
