Das wild- romantische Thal, in dem der Verschönerungsverein den «Maria Dorothea-Weg» in den Felsen einhauen liess, ist ein imposantes Werk der Natur, wie man seinesgleichen am Continente kaum findet. Un- zählige Wasserfälle verbinden die Seen miteinander; aus einer Höhe von 78 M. stürzt der Bach Plitvica schäumend und tosend herab, wie dies unser Bild zeigt. Im Thale entspringt der Koranafluss, der in seinem weiten Laufe eben- falls zahlreiche Wasserfälle auf- weist. In den Felsen befinden sich mehrere Karsthöhlen mit Tropfsteingebilden. Der Auf- enthalt an den Seen ist über- aus angenehm; ein mit allem Comfort ausgestattetes Hôtel bietet dem Touristen vorzüg- liche Unterkunft. Wir machen das reisende Publikum auf die Naturwunder der Plitvicer Seen besonders aufmerksam. J i LA CASCADE DU RUISSEAU DE PLITVICE. — Le tableau idyllique que présente la partie supérieure de la vallée de Plitvice avec ses lacs se dé- versant l’un dans l’autre, et sa végétation luxuriante, de- vient des plus imposant dans la partie inférieure de la vallée où les lacs, se trouvent en- caissés entre des rochers nus à pic. Cette partie, où l’associa- tion dite, «des embellisse- ments» a fait tailler dans le roc le chemin «Marie-Dorothée», est un merveilleux site n’ayant guère son pareil sur le conti- nent. Après les nombreuses chutes et cascades qui se suc- cèdent de lac en lac, le ruis- seau de Plitvice qui prend sa source dans la montagne se précipite d’une hauteur de 78 mètres d’un rocher à pic et forme la magnifique cas- cade reproduite par notre illustration. Toutes ces eaux réunies forment la Korona qui prend son cours impétueux, en formant de nombreuses chutes. Nous croyons devoir appeler l'attention du public voyageur, sur la beauté des sites des lacs de Plitvice, où l’on vient de construire un grand et magnifique hôtel. % THE GREAT WATERFALL OF PLITVICZA. — The so- called «upper lakes» with the cataracts and the surrounding luxuriant vegetation, form a most delightful panorama, whilst the «lower lakes» hem- med in by perpendicular cliffs lie in a deep kettlelike ravine. The «Amelioration Assosia- tion» have cut into the rock of this wild romantic valley the «Maria Dorothea» path, for the convenience of tou- rists. The valley is one of Nature’s most imposing créa- tions, such as is rarely met with on our continent. Count- less falls connect the lakes, the Plitvicza brook rumbling down foaming from a hight of 78 mtrs. as shewn by our illustration. In the valley the Korana river begins its course, which is also brocken by se- veral cataracts. In the cliffs there are some Karst-caves of stalactite formation. Sojourning on the shore of the lakes is very agreable, there being an excellent hotel fitted up with comfort for the accommoda- tion of tourists and visitors.We beg to call the special atten- tion of the tourist public to the beauties of the wonderful lakes of Plitvicza.
