A VARASDI «FERENCZ-JÖZSEF»-TERT nagyrészt régi épületek majdnem sza- bålyos négyszôgben veszik körül. Régiségüknél fogva különösen a tornyos våroshåza és balra a mostani kirålyi tabla épülete emlitésre méltd. A våroshåza hajdan a Draskovich grôfoké volt és egy része mår a Cillei-ek koråban létezhetett, de csak 1523-ban került György brandenburgi ôrgrôf adomånya utjån «domus lapidea» vagy- is a «kôhâz» elnevezéssel Varasd våros tulajdonåba. A torony, melyet hihetôleg olaszok épitettek, foleg azért nevezetes, mert az épület boltozatäböl szabadon emel- kedik ki s egy holdat åbrazolo gömbbel bir, mely a hold våltozataival egyidöben mozog s igy annak negyedeit és tôltét szabâlyszerüen mutatja. Az ujabb épitkezések közül megemlitjük a takarékpénztår kétemeletes izléses håzåt. DER FRANZ-JOSEFSPLATZ IN WARASDIN. — Dieser Platz ist beinahe in einem regelrechten Quadrate meistentheils von alten Gebäuden umgeben, unter denen sich durch den alten Baustyl besonders das Rathhaus mit dem Thurm und das am Bilde linksseitige Gebäude, die Gerichtstafel, vormals Eigenthum der Grafen Draäkovich, auszeichnen. Ein Theil des Rathhauses bestand schon wahrscheinlich zur Zeit der Grafen von Cilli und wurde dann später im Jahre 1523 durch Dotation des Georg Markgrafen von Brandenburg unter dem Namen «Das steinern’ Haus» (domus lapidea) an die Stadtgemeinde Warasdin übergeben. Der Thurm zeichnet sich besonders dadurch aus, dass er frei aus der Wölbung hervorragt. Erwähnungswerth ist die Mondkugel im Thurme, welche sich genau nach dem Mondeswechsel bewegt. M»1 LA PLACE FRANÇOIS-JOSEPH A VARASD. — Cette place qui présente une forme à peu près rectangulaire, est encadrée de constructions dont la plupart sont très anciennes et parmi lesquelles l’hôtel de ville avec sa tour, le bâtiment où siège actuellement le tribunal et qui était autrefois la propriété du comte DraSkovié, se distinguent surtout par leur style ancien. Selon toute probabilité, une partie de l’hôtel de ville existait déjà du temps des Comtes de Cilli et passa en 1523, par acte de dotation du Margrave de Brandenburg, propriété de la Municipalité, sous le nom de «domus lapidea». La tour se distingue surtout par cette particularité, qu’elle s’élève librement au-dessus de la voûte. Une curiosité remarquable de la tour est une sphère représentant la lune et indiquant avec une grande exactitude les phases lunaires. THE FRANCIS JOSEPH SQUARE AT WARASDIN. — This nearly rectangular square is formed by ancient buildings. With regard to antiquity the town hall ’with the tower deserves special mention, on the left of it is the building at present occupied by the Royal high court of justice, formerly the property of the Counts of Draäkovich. Part of the townhall probably existed already in Cillei’s time. The edifice came only in 1523 into the possession of the Corporation of Warasdin as a gift from the Margraf George of Brandenburg being then called the «Stone-house», (domus lapidea). The tower rises from the arches of the building, and has a clockwork globe indicating the phases of the moon. The modern Edifice of the Savings bank also deserves specially to be noticed.
