PETÖFI SZOBRA. — Huszàr Adolf, a korån elhunyt jeles szobråsz geniàlis alkotà- sainak egyike : Petöfi emlékszobra åll elôttünk. A nernzet halhatatlan kôltôjének, a szabadsågharczok lelkes dalnokànak, a ki ugy halt meg a csatåk mezején, harczban a szabadsàgért, a mint egyik nagy apotheozisàban maga ôhajtotta, a nemzet ércz- szobrot àllitott. Minthogy a sirjât nem ösnieri senki, és sirhalmara koszorût nem tehe- tünk, a nemzet e szobor elott roja le kegyeletét minden esztcndöben màrczius idusàn. Ide vonul ki az ifjüsàg, megkoszorüzvân a szobrot és elszavalvån a »Talpra magyar«-t, Petöfi e riadôjât, a melylyel a szabadsàg napjàn harczra szölitotta a nemzetet. DIE STATUE PETÖFI'S. — Diese ist ein Werk des heimischen Bildhauers Adolf Huszàr. Die Nation hat dadurch ihren unsterblichen Dichter, der für die Freiheit kämpfend, mitten im Kampfgewühl fiel, so wie er es in einer seiner ergreifendsten Apotheosen selbst gewünscht, ein schlichtes aber würdiges Denkmal gesetzt. Des gros- sen Dichters wird hier am 15. März jedes Jahres pietätsvoll gedacht. Die akade- mische Bürgerschaft deklamirt dann an dieser geweihten Stelle das schwungvollste Schlachtenlied Petöfi’s («Talpra magyar») womit er sein Volk zum Kampfe für die Freiheit entflammte, und alljährlich schmückt ein neuer Kranz den Sockel der Statue. LA STATUE DE PETÖFI A BUDAPEST. — Ce chef-d’oeuyre est dû au ciseau du sculpteur hongrois Adolphe Huszàr que nous a ravi une mort prématurée. La Nation a fait ériger à Petöfi, l’une de ses gloires immortelles, un monument simple mais digne du poëte qui, comme il le désirait lui-même dans une de ses plus touchantes apothéoses, est tombé ignoré dans la mêlée des combats héroïques de l'Indépendance. Chaque année, le 15 Mars, la reconnaissance nationale dépose, au pied de la statue du grand poëte dont on ignore la tombe, de nombreuses couronnes et la Jeunesse universi- taire y déclame l’hymne vibrant (Talpra magyar). THE STATUE OF PETÖFI. — The génial creation of the late Adolphus Huszàr, the statue of Petöfi, stands before us. The piety of the nation has raised this monument to the memory of her immortal poet, to the enthusiastic bard of the war of inde- pendence, who died, as he always wished to die, on the battle field for his country. As no one knows, where he is burried, and it being therefore impossible to lay a wreath on his grave, the nation pays her tribut of piety by depositing on the 15th of March, wreathes, the Hungarian youths gathering there to recite the song «Rise up Hungarians», with which he roused the nation and called her to battle.
