ÄUSSERES DER MA- THIAS-KIRCHE. — Nach langer, schwerer Zeit, in welcher die Kirche dem vollständigen Verfall nahe war, und die türkische Herrschaft alle ihre Heilig- thümer raubte, steht sie jetzt fertig da, diese an geschichtlichen Erinnerun- gen reichste Kirche, die nach dem gerechten Kö- nig Mathias-Kirche benannt wurde. Unser Bild stellt das Äussere der Kirche dar, nachdem wir das innere Bild bereits gebracht und ihre wunderbare Archi- tektur beschrieben haben. Sie steht auf einem der hervorragendsten Plätze u. hebt die pittoreske Schön- heit des Ofener Theiles derart, dass sie gleich in Augen fällt. Ihre feierliche Einweihung gehört zu den erhebensten Programm- punkten der Millenniums- feier. Sie sollte schon im Mai eingeweiht werden, die Einweihungsfeierlich- keiten wurden jedoch auf den Monat Juni verscho- ben, da die innere Einrich- tung noch nicht fertigge- stellt ist. } 'M '3 lithiih’ VUE DE L’ÉGLISE MATHIAS A BUDAPEST. Après avoir été dévalisée de ses trésors lors la do- mination turque et délaissée dans état voisin de vétusté pendant les innombrables années des époques tour- mentées de l’histoire hongr., cette magnifique église qui porte le nom du glorieux roi Mathias le juste et à laquelle se rattachent de si grands souvenirs histo- riques, est enfin restaurée et apparaît aujourd’hui dans toute sa splendeur. Notre illustration donne la vue extérieure de cette église dont nousavons déjà donné la vue intérieure dans un de nos précédentsnuméros. Située sur une place de Bude très en vue, elle re- hausse encore la beauté pittoresque de cette partie de la ville, et attire immé- diatement la vue du spec- tateur. — Sa consécration solennelle fait partie des fêtes du Millénaire; elle devait être consacrée déjà au mois de mai, mais les aménagements intérieurs n’étant pas encore achevés, cette solennité a été ajour- née au mois de Juin. THE EXTERIOR OF THE MATHIASCHURCH. The restoration works of this church are now finish- ed. After having passed trough many vicisitudes, being robbed of its reli- ques during the Turkish domination and being near- ly destroyed, it rises again in great splendour, stand- ing on one of the highest points of Buda, visible from far off, enhancing the pic- turesqueness of that part of the town. Having al- ready presented to our readers the beautiful in- terior of this church, we now give the exterior view. The solemn consécration of the church, forms part of the elaborate programme of the Millennary festivities. The consecration was to be performed in the month of May, when all the high dignitaries of the State and Church, assembling in the Capital for the Millennary festivities, would have been present, but owing to the unfinished state of the in- terior decorations and fit- tings, the solemn consecra- tion had to be postponed to the month of June.
