DER PRINZ EUGEN-PLATZ IN TEMESVAR. — Es ist der schönste reich bepflanzte Platz dieser blühenden südungarischen Stadt, und nach dem edlen Savoyerprinzen benannt, der durch seine Siege im Jahre 1716 dieselbe vom türkischen Joche ent- giltig befreite Auf diesem Platze der «inneren Stadt» steht der Palast des Corps- kommandanten, das Gebäude des Militärkasinos, der Monumentalbau der Temeser Sparkasse, der Pächterin von Herculesbad, und das alte Rathhaus, erbaut an der Stätte eines ehemaligen türkischen Bades im Jahre 1734. Das inmittten des Platzes sichtbare Denkmal wurde zur Erinnerung an die heldenmüthige Vertheidigung der Veste errichtet. « LA PLACE DITE DU PRINCE EUGÈNE A TEMESVÀR. — Cette place qui porte le nom du Prince Eugène de Savoie, le héros qui, par ses victoires de 1716, délivra Temesvàr du joug turc, est une des plus belles places publiques de cette ville florissante du sud de la Hongrie. Sur cette place* située au centre de la ville, se trouvent: le palais du commandant de place, le bâtiment du casino militaire, le magnifique hôtel de la Caisse d’épargne du Comitat de Ternes, et l’ancien hôtel de "ville construit en 1734 sur l’emplacement d’anciens bains turcs. Le monument érigé au milieu même de la place, rappelle la défense héroïque de la forteresse. THE PRINCES EUGENE SQUARE, TEMESVAR. — The prettiest point in the town of Temesvår is the square in the centre of the inner-town named after Prince Eugene of Savoya, who in 1716 wrested the town from the Turks, which they held for a century and a half. The square is richly planted and elegantly laid out for a promenade. On this square stand, the palace of the Commander of the Army corps, the officers’ Casino, the monumental Edifice of the Savings-bank and the old town-hall, built in 1734, on the site of an old Turkish bath. The military monument in the centre of the Square commemorates the heroic defense of the fortress, during the war of independence.
