DER PAVILLON DES METEOR- OLOGISCHEN INSTITUTES. — Wie eine Ritterburg aus dem Mittelalter, auf kühner Felsen- spitze aufgebaut, darin verzauberte Kämpen hausen oder minnigliche Prinzessinnen ihrer Befreiung harren, so sieht, besonders von einiger Entfernung, der Pavillon für Meteor- ologie aus. Wohl bedeckt das ganze Gebäude nur 90Q M., aber sein bizarres, mit Zinnen und Erkern, Thürmchen und Steil- dächern geziertes Aeussere wird wohl jedem Besucher der Aus- stellung auffallen. In diesem Bau wird das königl. meteorologische Institut all’ jene, heute bereits hochentwickelten Hilfsmittel und Apparate ausstellen, welche die moderne Wissenschaft auch in diesem interessanten Zweige des menschlichen Wissens gebiete- risch erfordert. Gewiss wird auch dieser Pavillon reichlich dazu bei- tragen, den Fortschritt der unga- rischen Wissenschaft weithin zu verkünden. Der Fremde wird sich hier leicht überzeugen können, dass die ungarische Nation, wenn es sich darum handelt, dass die wissenschaftlichen Fach-Institute des Landes das Niveau ähnlicher ausländischer Anstalten erreichen, vor keinem Opfer zurückscheut. L’EXPOSITION MILLÉNAIRE. LE PAVILLON DE L’INSTITUT MÉTÉOROLOGIQUE. Erigé sur un monticule, figurant une roche escarpée, ce pavillon ressemble de loin à quelque fief magique du moyen-âge, où seraient retenus de valeureux chevaliers ou de mignonnes princesses attendant leur libération. Bien qu’elle ne comporte qu’une surface couverte de 90 mètres carrés, cette gra- cieuse construction avec sa toi- ture fortement inclinée, ses tou- relles crénelées, ses balcons etc. frappera les regards du public. La riche collection d’instruments perfectionnés dont sera doté ce pavillon prouvera à tous, que l’Institut météorologique royal hongrois est à la hauteur des progrès modernes de la science météorologique, et que dès qu’il s'agit des Instituts scientifiques du Pays, la Nation hongroise et son Gouvernement ne reculent devant aucun sacrifice pour arriver à atteindre le niveau des Insti- tuts scientifiques analogues de l’Etranger. THE NATIONAL EXHIBITION THE PAVILION OF THE ME- TEOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE. — Like a mediaeval Castle in the times of ancient Chivalry, it stands perched on a peak looking, especially from a certain distance, as if enchan- ted knights and lovely princes- ses, waiting to be liberated, were dwelling in it. Although this Edifice covers only about 90 square yards, it scarcely will fail to attract the attention of the Visitors to the Exhibition, by its quaint Bowers, Turrets, Battle- ments and its steep Roof, which ornament it. This Structure will contain all the auxiliaries and Instruments, which the far advan- ced development of modern sci- ence, inperatively demands for its use. These will be exhibited by, the Royal Meteorological Institute. There is no doubt that this Pavilion will also show the great Progress, hungarian science, has made, on the field of Meteo- r°l°gy, at the same time giving proof of the eagerness, with which the nation and the go- vernment, did their utmost to advance our scientific develop- ment.
