PANORAMA DES HAUTS TAT- RAS ET LE PARC HUSZ A POPRAD. — Cette partie admi- rable des Carpathes peut, sans contredit, être comparée aux plus beaux sites alpestres de la Suisse. Les contours des cimes et crê- tes de cette chaîne des Car- pathes, présentent, au sud, une symétrie si correcte, qu’on croi- rait que la main créatrice de la Nature s’est appliquée à vouloir leur donner un caractère artis- tique. Les pics gigantesques des hauts Tatras, notamment: Le Ger- lachfalva dont l’altitude comporte 2G63 mètres, sont pour la plupart couverts de neiges éternelles. Le parc Husz représenté par notre illustration et à l’arrière-plan du- quel on aperçoit les hauts Tatras, se trouve situé à environ 3 mi- nutes de la station de Popråd. C'est le rendez-vous des nomb- reux touristes partant en excur- sions soit dans les Tatras, soit a la grotte de glace de Dob- sina ou à la grotte de stalactites d’Aggtelek. Le parc et les co- quettes constructions qui en font partie, est la propriété du restau- rateur bien connu, Mr. Matejka. Par son confortable et ses prix modérés, cet établissement est, à tous égards recommandable aux touristes des Tatras. PANORAMA OF THE HIGH- TÀTRA AND THE HUSZ-PARK AT POPRÂD. — The greater part of Hungary’s frontier is formed by the forest-clad Ranges of the Karpathians. Our illustration pre- sent one of its most striking parts. Viewed from above Pop- råd these Mountains present an unbroken line of Giants, rivalling in grandeur the Alps of Switzer- land. The rigorous symetry mak- es it appear, as if it were the handiwork of an aiming hand. From the ragged sides of the Gerlachfalva Feak (2663 meters) the Lomnitz, Great-Krivån, Ten- gcrszem-Pealc etc., the snow never disappears. Small but deep lakes, so called sea-eyes, with the fine cascades formed by their waters, form the chief attraction of this wild mountain region. The foreground of our view represents the beautiful Husz-Park, situated some three minutes walk from the railway station of Popråd, a fine alley leading from the station there. This Park is the centre of all excursions to the High-Tåtra, to the Cave of Dob- sina and to other parts. The Establishment is the Property of the wellknown Hotelier Mr. W. Matejka, and well deserves to be patronised by tourists, for its comfort and moderate prices.
