Mit seltener Genialität sind diese wundervollen Bauwerke erdacht, die sich am Rande des Stadtwäldchenteichs erheben. Diesmal stellen wir den romanischen Theil der Anlage bildlich dar, der in Bezug auf grossen Zuschnitt und historische Treue vor allen besonders hervorragt. Wie wenn wir in den Büchern der Weltgeschichte blättern würden, so muthet uns das Meisterwerk des alten romanischen Styles an. VUE DE LA PARTIE ROMANE DU GROUPE DE L’EXPOSITION HISTORIQUE. Parmi les architectes et ingénieurs chargés des travaux de construction de F Expo- sition millénaire, l’architecte Ignace Alpår, l’auteur du projet des Palais historiques, occupe à vrai dire le premier rang. Il a conçu avec génie les projets de ces magnifiques constructions élevées sur les bords du lac du bois de ville. Au point de vue de ses dispo- sitions d’ensemble, et des fidèles reproductions historiques, cette partie est on ne peut mieuxréussie. Le vieux style roman évoque en nous des souvenirs de l’histoire universelle et notre admiration croît en raison d'une plus longue contemplation de ce chef-d’ocuvre. THE MAIN HISTORICAL GROUP. — Among the architects, who designed, the various buildings of the Millennium Exhibition, Ignatius Alpår, undoubtedly occupies a prominent position. He, with great geniallity designed the Historical Palace, that rises on the banks of the lake. We present here, some of its architectural details. Grand in their conception, they represent with historical truth, the wounders of the Norman Style. This group of architectural details, contains the choicest gems of the Norman architecture and carries us back into ancient times, giving us an insight into the records of the History of Architecture of those remote times.
