A DETONATA. — Zordonan és fonségesen emelkedik a magasba Erdély legna- gyobb nevezetessége : a Detonata-hegy. Nevét (villåmsujtotta) a sok villåmcsapås- tol kapta, a mely sürüen talàlta és sokat is rontott rajta. A bazalthegy Alsö-Fe- hérmegyében, Gyulafehérvår és Zalathna közt van s tündérmesebeli roppant orgona-ériåshoz hasonlit. Csudås falazatåt szögletes, csaknem egyenlö vastagsågu bazaltsipokbol âllô pillérek alkotjàk. Vihar közben a szél, bejårva a réseket és oszlo- pokat, csodålatos zenét mond, a melyet az arra jårok szent borzalommal hallgat- nak. Mintha a természet megtalålta volna legalkalmasabb hangszerét, hogy szent templomånak orgonåjåval orokkévalosågåt, nagysågåt és fônségét hirdesse. DIE DETONATA. — Düster und erhaben ragt eines der grössten Wunder der Natur in Siebenbürgen, der Detonataberg, in die Lüfte. Seinen Namen erhielt der Gipfel von den zahllosen Blitzstrahlen, die ihn oft unter Donner («Detonata») und Getöse, getroffen. Der Riesenbasalt erhebt sich zwischen Karlsburg (Gyula- Fehérvår) und Zalathna und gleicht einer ungeheuren Orgel mit seinen vorsprin- genden, bis zu 100 Meter hohen schlanken Säulen und Bogen. Seine Wände werden von fast gleichdicken Basaltpfeilern gebildet, die Orgelpfeifen sprechend ähnlich sehen. Grossartig ist’s, wenn der Sturm in diese Lücken und Öffnungen mit mächtigen Accorden hineinbraust, grossartig und schauderhaft zugleich. LA DETONATA. — Dans une contrée pittoresque et fréquentée des touristes, entre Gyulafehérvår et Zalathna (Transylvanie) s’élève un rocher gigantesque qui doit son nom «Detonata» aux inombrables coups de foudre qui l'atteignent pen- dant la saison des orages et se répercutent à l’infini. Sur l’un de ses côtés il pré- sente une forme des plus bizarres, on dirait une série de piliers de basaltes de dimensions presques égales, d’une hauteur de près de 100 mètres qui sont alignés comme les tuyaux d’un orgue immense; et quand le vent s’engouffre à travers les cavités et interstices de ces roches saillantes, on perçoit des sons presque harmonieux qui ne manquent pas d’impressioner les touristes. DETONATA. — Gloriously in savage beauty, stands this wounderful master- piece of Nature, one of Transylvania’s most remarkable sights. The name — Detonata, Thunderstruck — is derived from the countless strokes of lightning that fall upon it. — This curious Basalt Formation rises between Gyulafehérvår and Zalathna. With its mightv Pillars of Basalt and its lofty arches, it very much resembles a gigantic Organ. When the Storm rages round it and the wind wildly rushes through its openings, mystical sounds are heard, filling the breast of the wanderer with Awe. Nature specially selected this spot, to place the Organ of her beautiful Temple there, to proclaim her Greatness and her Sublimity.
