BECZKÖVÄRA. — A galantha-zsolnai vonalon a Vàgvôlgy közepöböl meredek szirtben végzodo hatalmas sziklacsûcs emelkedik ki s ennek tetején âll a festoi szépségü Beczkö (Bolondöcz) vàr romja. E vårat Stibor vajda, Trenesén egykor hatalmas, eroszakoskodåsai- és rablåsairdl félelmes ura, a néprege szerint Beczkö nevü udvari bolondjånak kérelmére épitette. Stibor kegyetlenségeiért — a monda szerint — ugyanesale borzalmasan lakolt s szörnyü halållal mult ki. A korbåstya és a boltozott kapu még mindig szilårdan ållanak, valamint a szirtre épitett védtorony is. Egyik épebb termében s a göth stylü kåpol- nåban a hajdan diszes falfestésnek egyes maradvånyait talåljuk. BURGRUINE BECZKÖ. — An der Galantha-Zsolnaer Strecke der kgl. ungar. Staatsbahnen, im reizenden Vågthale erhebt sich auf dem mächtigen Gipfel eines schwindelnd steilen Felsens die malerisch schöne Ruine der Burg Beczkö (Bolondöcz). Die Burg soll dem Volksmunde nach der seiner Gewalthätigkei- ten und Grausamkeit wegen berüchtigte einstige Herr der Festung Trenesén, Stibor, seinem Hofnarren Beczkö zu Lieb erbaut haben. Grausig soll Stibor für seine Herzlosigkeit gebüsst haben: von demselben steilen Felsen, von welchem er die Opfer seiner grausamen Launen in die jähe Tiefe werfen liess, stürzte er auch selbst hinab und blieb mit zerschmetterten Gliedern todt liegen. LES RUINES DU CHATEAU DE BECZKÖ. — De la ligne Galantha — Zsolna des chemins de fer de l’Etat hongrois, traversant la charmante vallée de la Våg, on aperçoit sur un rocher à pic des plus escarpés les pittores- ques ruines du château de Beczkö (Bolondöcz). Ce château fut construit, dit- on, à la demande du bouffon Beczkö, par Stibor, l’ancien seigneur et maître de la forteresse de Trencsén, aussi redouté pour ses actes de cruauté que pour sa violence. Stibor fut cruellement puni de ses atrocités: du même rocher escarpé d’où les victimes de scs vélleités barbares furent précipitées, il tomba à son tour dans le vide et fut tué sur le coup. THE CASTLE OF BECZKÖ. — Middway in the valley of the Våg on the railway line, rises a mighty cliff crowned by the picturesque ruins of the Castle of Beczkö. — According to the traditions, the Castle was built, at the instiga- tion of his court-jester Beczkö, by the powerfull Voivode Stibor, once Lord of Trencsin and much dreaded for his lawlessness. — The Legend says that this cruel Lord died, a fearful dcath. The round bastion, the arched Gateway and the Curfew-tower on the top of the cliff, are still ständig. In one of the partlv preserved halls and in the gothic Chapel the remains of splendid wall- paintings, are yct to be soen and much admired by tourists.
